When the Anchor Dragged
July 13, 2026
This was the first Monday since losing my job that didn’t follow the routine I’d carefully built.
Legal filings, financial stress, physical pain, and uncertainty all arrived at once. I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I wanted to throw something.
Instead, I filed what needed to be filed. I cooked anyway. I rested anyway. I laughed at a delightfully ridiculous movie. I discovered that Rocky the rock-looking alien could make me smile when I thought I had nothing left to give.
The day didn’t end in triumph. It ended in faithfulness.
Tomorrow still mattered, so I chose to stop carrying today’s burden into tomorrow’s interview.
Perfection wasn’t the goal. Learning was.
